A great event is happening both before and after the match v MK Dons on Saturday!
The Southend United Ex Players Association (SUEPA) has arranged for a number of players who were team mates of Chris Powell during his playing days at Roots Hall (July 1990 to January 1996) to be at the game.
The exact identity of who is attending is being kept as a surprise for our manager, but some true Roots Hall legends have committed to coming along who, altogether, have played for The Blues for a total of nearly 2,000 times.
Events will be in two parts. First, the identities of all will be revealed to the Roots Hall faithful in a presentation to the fans shortly before kick-off – do give them a great welcome!
Then, after the final whistle, there will be an opportunity to meet Powell’s Pals in the Far Post Bar behind the East Stand – just aim to get there before 5.15 pm then settle in for the introductions, listen to/take part in a ‘Q&A’ session, and afterwards have the chance to take pictures and get autographs. We are expecting this opportunity to be well attended – it is FREE ENTRY to all attending – and places will be available on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The bar will be serving drinks until 6.30 pm.
