Club show support to The Amy May Trust through the front of shirt

1 September 2017

Southend United Football Club are showing their support to The Amy May Trust through the front of shirt which will be debuted at Roots Hall tomorrow (Saturday 2nd September).

Southend United Chairman Ron Martin explains his reasoning behind the change.

“Many of you would recently have read, seen or heard of the campaign by The Amy May Trust to bring awareness to the dangers of nut allergies.

“Amy, who is my niece and goddaughter, suffered a catastrophic allergic reaction in April 2014 resulting in irreparable brain damage.

“This tragedy has had a profound and continuing effect upon my family and I wish to do all I can to aid the objectives of the Trust.

“With this in mind, we are replacing the Martin Dawn plc logo on the Club shirt with The Amy May Trust logo, which will be worn by the players from tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One fixture at Roots Hall against Rochdale and for the rest of the 2017/18 season (Home and Away).

“My property group will continue to support the Club precisely as it has done over recent seasons, and in the future. We will replace, at no cost, all replica Nike shirts that have been purchased this season and the new shirts will be available to swap (for the Martin Dawn 2017/18 shirts) from Tuesday 12th September, which supporters will be able to change at their convenience for one month up until 5pm on Thursday 12th October.

"This campaign could not be closer to my heart and I wish to gratefully thank everyone connected with the Club for their understanding and continued support.”

In the interim period all Southend United Martin Dawn shirts will be withdrawn for sale from the Official Club Shop but the NEW home and away shirts will be available online to purchase (please note these will not be dispatched until after Tuesday 12th September).

Additionally, you can pre-order one of the new replica shirts in store at Roots Hall from Saturday 2nd September.

Small men’s home shirts will not be available for exchange until Friday 22nd September – this sized shirt will be available to exchange up until close of play on Saturday 21st October.
