Saturday’s game against Charlton Athletic at The Valley will be refereed by Gavin Ward.
Last season Ward brandished 150 yellow cards and six red cards.
Saturday will be his 15th game officiating Blues competitively, the last game in the league being the 1-0 win over Bury on the final day of last season which saw him brandish six yellow cards in the game with two going to Blues players, one Luke Amos and the other Theo Robinson. He did, though, take charge of the pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion before the start of the season.
He started his refereeing career in the Football Conference back in 2006. His first game came on 11th November 2006 when Basingstoke beat Chesterfield 1-0 in the FA Cup.
Since then he has gone on to referee in the Championship, but his most recent game was Rotherham’s 1-0 win away to Portsmouth.
Throughout his 11-year career he has shown 1,132 yellow cards and 62 red cards.
