Saturday will be Horwood’s thirteenth Southend game that he will officiate. His last Southend game came when Blues visited Stevenage in the Checkatrade trophy on 8th November last season which saw him brandish two yellow cards in the game with one going to Adam Thompson.
He started his refereeing career in the Football Conference back in 2006. His first game came on 11th November 2006 when Chelmsford drew 1-1 with Aldershot in the FA Cup. Since then he has gone on to referee in Championship with his most recent game coming on 23rd September when Bradford beat Northampton 1-0 away.
