Lee Sawyer got his name on the scoresheet just 11 minutes later with a close-range shot.
Dougie Freedman scored the final goal in the 77th minute securing a comfortable win over Leyton Orient.

Southend 2-1 Scunthorpe
Ben Coker scored the winning goal and created the other to secure Phil Brown’s side with three points.
Gary McSheffrey opened the scoring eight minutes into the first half with a curling effort.
Coker set up captain Michael Timlin who scored the equaliser close to half time.
It wasn’t until the 75th minute that Ben Coker burst down the wing and into the box to fire home Blues winner in front of the roaring crowd.
