Loan Watch: Dan Walker & Josh Bexon

19 September 2017

Blues youngsters Dan Walker and Josh Bexon are plying their trade in Austria with FC Kitzbuhel to gain valuable first team experience...

First Team Assistant Manager Sean Caldwell provides an update on their latest results.

Wednesday 30th August

(Tirol Cup 3rd Round)

FK Fieberbrunn 2-2 FC Kitz - (Fieberbrunn Won 5-4 on Penalties):

We entered into the 3rd round of the Regional Cup, a competition where we lost on penalties in the final last season, away to a local lower league team. Josh Bexon was rested for the cup game, and Dan Walker played 90 minutes.

Despite dominating the ball for the whole of the game, and taking a 1-0 lead, we were undone by the opponents taking their two chances in the game before losing on penalties.

Dan scored his first goal for the club on the stroke of half time, a very well taken finish from outside the box. He had other opportunities to kill the game off, but unfortunately couldn’t take them.

FC Kitz 1-0 FC Hard:

The game was initially postponed on the Saturday, due to heavy rainfall, but the fixture was played three days later.

A hard fought win, in which we bagged the winner in the final ten minutes. Both Dan and Josh started the game, Dan put in one of his best performances for the club over 90 minutes, working hard without the ball, and creating a good chance out of nothing which the opposition keeper did well to save.

Josh had a good, but quiet, first half but unfortunately twisted his knee and had to come off at half time.

FC Dornbirn 2-2 FC Kitz:

The first of our 5 long away journey’s to the Swiss/Liechtenstein/Austrian border saw us take a good point away from home.

Unfortunately after leading 2-0 in the second half, and conceding a penalty in the 94th minute (to make it 2-2) it was certainly a case of two points dropped.

Josh was unable for selection due to his knee injury, and Dan was rested due to us having three games in a week. Dan made a small appearance when he came on for the final ten minutes of the game.

Wednesday 13th September

(League)

FC Kitz 1-2 SV Wörgl:

Our opponents in last years Tirol Cup final, and local rivals, once again got the better of us in a hard fought derby game. Two goals against from our former striker, was certainly a bitter pill to swallow, however there could be no complaints about the result.

A very poor performance from us, which we had our goalkeeper to thank for keeping the score at just two! Josh was once again unavailable for selection, and Dan played 90 minutes.

Dan worked hard again, but needs to get a goal in the league to boost his confidence.

Summary: Very disappointing for Josh to pick up an injury, yesterday was his first day back on the training pitch doing some light work- I hope he will be available for selection in two weeks time. Dan should be pleased that he’s getting more game time now, I hope he is able to find the back of the net on a regular basis to boost his confidence levels further.

FC Kitzbühel upcoming fixtures:
Saturday 23rd September (Away) Vs Alberschwende
Saturday 30th September (Home) Vs SV Grodig
Saturday 7th October (Away) Vs Wacker Innsbruck 1b
