Blues Academy Player Of The Past

This weeks player of the past is Kyle Asante...

Kyle Asante started in Blues youth academy and worked his way up the ranks until he made his first team appearance on 7th November 2009 when Blues lost 3-0 to Gillingham in the FA Cup first round, he came on for James Walker in the 83rd minute.

Asante suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury which hampered his progress in the first team, but in February 2011 he scored a hat-trick against Luton Town in a reserve game and consequently was selected by Blues boss Paul Sturrock for the next game. He made 18 appearances while with Blues and scored seven goals for the first team before moving to St Neots Town in 2012.

From 2012 he had string of short spells at a number of clubs from Bishop’s Stortford, Aveley, Maldon & Tiptree, Witham Town and Cheshunt for joining Bishop’s Stortford again in 2016 where he currently plays now, but under dual registration he can also play for Great Wakering Rovers.
