John White has called on Southend United to be ‘harder to beat’ to improve their away form this weekend.
Blues have won just once on the road all season, which came in a 4-2 win at Fleetwood Town.
However, the centre back isn’t placing any significance in what has happened in previous games away from Roots Hall.
“Obviously the home form has been ok,” said White. “We would still like it to be better, but the away form is something we need to work on.
“If I knew exactly what it was then I would be an amazing manager.
“I’m pretty sure there are a lots of managers that would love to be able to pinpoint what changes [at home and away].
“But I think we need to be more resilient and harder to beat away from home and then you take what you can get from the games.
“You look at every game as a chance to win. I don’t think there’s too much thought that goes into what happened last week, the week before or whenever the last away game was.
“It’s just a chance of going out against a team and trying to get three more points on the board to try and creep up the table.
“It’s not too much about what they do. The emphasis will be on them to come out and attack us and try and get something from the game, and I think sometimes that suits us with our countering attacking play.
“It’s something that we need to improve on and if we can be harder to beat and give ourselves a good platform then it gives us every opportunity.”
