Club statement regarding senior Club staff changes

9 October 2017

Last week the Club appointed Steve Waggott as Head of Operations.

Steve has held senior positions within the industry over the past 15 years including CEO at Coventry City for 4 years. He has also held Senior Executive positions, including CEO of the Community Trust and Football Club for 7 years at Charlton Athletic. We welcome Steve as the Club’s Planning Application is soon to be considered by Southend Borough Council (we anticipate that the application will be considered at the December Committee Meeting) and if approved the Club will rapidly press on with the construction and letting phases. The appointment of Steve Waggott will greatly assist the Club’s day to day operations and in particular the transition from Roots Hall and Fossetts Farm.

Rhys Ellingham steps up as Head of Commercial as Danny Macklin moves on to take up a new role as CEO of Leyton Orient Football Club. We are sorry to lose Danny who has done an outstanding job in building a vibrant Commercial Team and now passes the baton to the very capable Rhys Ellingham with whom he has worked closely for a number of years both whilst at Southend United and previous at Essex County Cricket Club.

Danny’s last day at the Club is Friday November 10th, we wish Danny well but no doubt we will remain in touch.
