Tuesday will be Haines’s eighth Southend game that he will officiate. His last Southend game came when Blues hosted MK Dons in League One on 17th April last season which saw him brandish three yellow cards in the game with two cards going to Blues players who were Anthony Wordsworth and Theo Robinson.
He started his refereeing career in League Two back in 2007. His first game came on 11th August 2007 when Chester drew 0-0 with Chesterfield in a League game. Since then he has gone on to referee in the Championship with his most recent game coming on 26th September when Wycombe beat Crewe Alexandra 3-2 at home.
Throughout his career he has shown 911 yellow cards and 47 red cards during his ten-year refereeing career.
