Tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One game against Peterborough United will be refereed by Kevin Johnson.
Last season Johnson brandished 100 yellow cards and 4 red cards, he took charge of 30 games spread across League One & Two. It brings his total tally up to 521 yellow cards and 39 red cards.
Tomorrow will be Johnson’s sixth Southend game that he will take charge of. His last Southend game came when Blues hosted Oldham Athletic in League One on 1st April last season which saw him brandish seven yellow cards and one red with three yellows and the single red going to Southend United players who were, Ben Coker, Anthony Wordsworth, Simon Cox, with the red going to Ryan Leonard.
He started his refereeing career in the Blue Square Premier nine years ago. His first game came on 16th August 2008 when Oxford beat Eastbourne 6-3 in the first game of the 2008/09 season. Since then he has gone on to referee in League One with his most recent game coming on 14th October which saw Lincoln City and Cambridge United draw 0-0.
