Mark Oxley On The Win Over Reading U21s

4 October 2017

Mark Oxley gives his reaction to the win, on another clean sheet, Blues' recent results and on the next fixture...

On the first win in the competition…

Obviously, the boys came in and the manager made quite a few changes to side, and I thought all the youngsters came in and did really well, it all comes down to how you approach games like this. We know they are an under 23s team but they are a decent side and they moved the ball about well and I think it was important that we continued the momentum from the last three games and I thought the boys that came in did really well.

On the clean sheet…

The boys that came in this morning did really well, we only did a little bit of shape work this morning and without the ball tonight we were fantastic all over the pitch just as much as when we were on the ball, the manager made nine changes and it shows just how much strength in depth we have in the squad and when the boys come in they are ready to take the chance.

On the results going in Blues’ favour…

For me it was only a matter of time, we had some disappointing results early on in the season, but now you just have to look at where we are in the table. With the nine changes today and people coming back from injury it shows that there is competition for places and that has helped the results. The boys that get picked on Saturday have to play and prove why they should keep the shirt and that’s what we’ve been doing these past few weeks.

On the momentum and taking it to Doncaster…

Like I said we’ve had a really good week this week and we can’t rest on that and after the game on Tuesday against Wimbledon we had to keep on working hard and training hard and if we keep doing that then I’m sure that the right results will be coming our way.
