We take a look and see how our two loanees (Dan & Josh) are getting on in Austria and how Joe Bedford is doing at Brightlingsea Regent FC...
Friday 6th October
FC Wacker Innsbruck 1b 1-3 FC Kitz:
In Austria there is a similar system as to in Spain, where second teams of clubs play in the actual league structure and not in a reserves league- therefore we drove to Innsbruck to face the second team from FC Wacker.
Due to it being an international weekend we expected a tough game, and as predicted, five first team players found their way into the starting line up.
Despite going a goal behind, two set pieces and a wonder striker from our right back secured a vital three points away from home.
Josh Bexon found himself on the bench on his return from injury, whilst Dan Walker came on for the final fifteen minutes. A highlight of his short spell on the pitch being a run in which he took on and went past 4-5 defenders with ease, before failing to beat the goalkeeper.
Saturday 14th October
FC Kitz 1-2 FC Seekirchen:
After a draw against the league leaders and a good win away from home, confidence was relatively high within the group for this game.
Another set piece (our 12th of the season) giving us the lead, before a defensive mistake at the back saw us go in 1-1 at half time.
In the early phases of the second half we dominated the game for twenty minutes but had nothing to show for it, before the game evened out.
A corner for Seekirchen in the 92nd minute found its way into the box, and a lack of concentration saw the away team leave with all three points.
Josh was once again on the bench, whilst Dan played the final 15 minutes.
Saturday 21st October
VfB Hohenems 2-1 FC Kitz:
Another long journey and tough away game in Hohenems was next up for us. After starting very poorly we feel behind to a sublime free kick in the 9th minute, before fighting our way back into the game and drawing level just before half time.
In the second half we remained very compact, and had some great chances on the counter attack, including an opportunity where our centre midfielder was brought down when clean through on goal.
The resulting red card gave us a boost, and allowed us to begin to dominate whilst Hohenems sat back and played on the counter.
This is something we did not deal with very well, and in the 80th minute went 2-1 down.
Despite plenty of pressure in the final ten minutes, this was how the game ended.
Both Josh and Dan were on the bench again, with Dan playing 10 minutes.
Summary: Josh now being fully fit, needs to fight his way back into the starting line up this week, and has a good chance of doing so if he remains fit & focused.
Dan is naturally frustrated with his playing time, but has come on along way both mentally and tactically the past few months. He will certainly get his chance before our final game of the Autumn season, and he knows he needs to use it this time!
