History books: Blues vs Posh

17 October 2017

We take a long look at the history books to see how we fare against Peterborough...

Our first home game against Peterborough was just four days after our first meeting against the Posh.

Last time we faced Peterborough we beat them 4-1, which was also the score of our first ever encounter against Peterborough back in 1961, unfortunately the result went went in Peterborough’s favour meaning Blues lost 4-1.

We have only lost five times when at home to Peterborough since our first meeting at Roots Hall back in 1961.

We have faced Peterborough more times at their ground (27) than we have at Roots Hall (26) due to Peterborough winning a League Cup game back in 2012.

Last year Blues forward Marc-Antoine Fortune made his debut against Peterborough in the 70th minute, the game ended 1-1 after a 90th minute equaliser from Marcus Maddison.

We have scored 68 goals against Peterborough in all competitions, just four less than what they have scored against us (72).

We have never faced Peterborough in the Football League Trophy. The only cup competitions that we have faced the Posh are in the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Southend United have beaten Peterborough by more than one goal a total of 19 times out of our 22 victories against the Posh.
