Blues Academy player of the past

11 October 2017

This week's player of the past is Kane Ferdinand...

Kane Ferdinand started his career with Southend United’s academy, working his way up the system until he signed his first professional contract in 2010.

His first Southend game came on 1st January 2011 when Blues beat Oxford United 2-0. He continued to start in for the remainder of the 2010/11 season. He scored his first Southend goal against Wycombe when Blues beat the Chairboys 3-2.

After making 71 appearances in a Southend shirt he moved to Peterborough in 2012 for a fee around £200,000. Kane went on to feature in 33 of their games in his first season at the club as he held a starting spot.

The remainder of his seasons at Peterborough brought a string of short loan spells which saw him play for Northampton, Luton and Cheltenham. A change in scenery brought him to Dagenham & Redbridge but he made just 15 appearances in his first season and the following season he moved once again but this time he delved into non-league football with East Thurrock United. He stayed with the Rocks for three months, totalling 13 appearances before making another switch to his current side Woking.

Kane is currently under contract with Woking, since his arrival he has gone on to make 37 appearances for the non-league side and has netted twice with both goals coming in this season.
