Simon Cox on the 1-1 draw with Oxford

27 November 2017

Simon Cox gave his reaction to the 1-1 draw with Oxford, on the team’s morale and on climbing the table…

The Blues forward scored his 99th league goal on Saturday and he is aiming to put more of his chances in the back of the net.

On the draw with Oxford…

It’s always nice to score, it just hasn’t been going our way or my way in recent weeks, so to get a goal inside the six-yard box is pleasing. We got off to a good start, but we weren’t able to hold it out until half time. It’s frustrating because the game plan was working and then we get two goals chalked off for offside. But on the positive side we are creating so many chances.

On the team’s morale…

It’s frustrating not to get the result we wanted but the morale in the changing room is strong, although it could be stronger, but that’s down to winning games. We believe in what we are doing, and the game plans are the right ones. We head into every game believing we can win games and we believe we are doing all the right things.

On climbing the table…

We are heading into Saturday’s game with a game in hand and we, as a group of players, need to do exactly what we did today, press high, make them make mistakes, create chances and if we do that then the teams ahead will be in for a slapping. As long as we are doing the right things then we will climb the table quite quickly.
