On Wednesday 1st of November 10 teams from across South Essex battled it out to be crowned Southend United’s EFL Kids Cup Champion.
Southend United Community & Educational Trust run the Kids Cup every year to give a school from South Essex a chance to represent Southend in the regional finals.
If they win the finals they have a chance to play at the famous Wembley stadium.
This tournament is a great oppotunity for schools to showcase their best players and compete for a chance to wear the Southend United Kit.
After many hard fought group games and two tough semi-finals, the two finalists were Wyburns and Fairways.
After an exciting final Fairways came away winners after scoring a late winner, sending them through to the next round. With the school not just representing themselves, but also the Blues.
The reginonal finals will be held next March at MK Dons.
On Thursday the 2nd of November Southend United hosted the EFL Girls Cup, we invited 13 teams from secondary schools to compete for a chance to represent the club in the next round which will be hosted in Luton.
There were some highly competitive games, with some real talent on show. The final saw Southend High take on Shenfield High. After a long match Southend High came away victorious, scoring 2 goals to beat Shenfield High.
The Southend High will face Barnett, Cambridge, Colchester, Ipswich, Luton, Norwich and Stevenage.
The winners of this group stage will then, like the boys, get to represent Southend United at Wembley.
