Carl Boyeson to take charge of second Blues game this season

Saturday’s away game against Portsmouth will be refereed by Carl Boyeson…

Boyeson has already taken charge of Southend this season, with his last game coming on 23rd September, when Blues beat Fleetwood Town 4-2 at Highbury Stadium, he brandished one yellow card and one red during the game, with neither going to any Southend player.

Once the experienced referee has blown the full time whistle on Saturday he would have taken charge of eleven Southend United games.

He started his refereeing career in the English Football Division 3 back in 2002. His first game came on 17thAugust 2002 when Bury won 3-2 against Swansea in a league game.

Since then he has gone on to referee in the Championship, but this season he has been in and around League One, with his most recent game coming on 11th November when Plymouth beat Bradford City 1-0 away.

Throughout his 15-year refereeing career he has shown 1,393 yellow cards and 102 spread across the National League, League One, League Two, the FA Cup, the English League Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy.
