Southend United became one of the first British teams to tour abroad when they visited Germany in 1910. They played six matches altogether, including the first ever match between two British clubs on foreign soil.
International Football Tournament held in Berlin:
Wed. 4 May 1910 - Southend 3 Hertha FC 1
Thurs. 5 May 1910 - Southend 0 Union FC 4
Sun. 15 May 1910 - Southend 10 Oxford City 1
Southend also played three friendlies -
Sun. 8 May 1910 - Southend 8 Victoria 1896 2 (in Magdeburg)
Wed. 11 May 1910 - Southend 3 Hohenzollern 1 (in Halle)
Mon. 16 May 1910 - Southend 4 Hamburg Combine 1 (in Hamburg)
