Charity kickabout at Roots Hall...
On Monday 15th May 2017, Southend United Football Club will welcome staff from Barclays and Southend Business Professionals who will take to the pitch for their 4th Annual football match in aid of Havens Hospices.
Younger supporters will also get a chance to test their skills at Roots Hall with a half-time Cross Bar Challenge.
There will also be an auction and raffle which will include ‘money can’t buy prizes ‘supplied by SUFC. Fans will also get to see Blues legend Adam Barrett back at Roots Hall once again as he will not only be coaching one of the teams, but may even join the teams on the pitch.
All proceeds raised on the night will be given to both Little Havens Hospice and Fair Havens Hospice, to help the staff continue ‘Making Every Day Count’ for babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Essex for as long as they need us. Children like Zac who is six years old and has Cystic Fibrosis, Epilepsy and a rare condition called Angelman Syndrome.
Zac and his family have been visiting Little Havens Hospice for respite breaks since 2015; Zac is able to enjoy swimming in the hydrotherapy pool or go on the swings in the wheelchair friendly gardens and his parents are able to enjoy moments with Zac as a family instead of being carers at the same time.
Amy, Zac’s Mum, said: "Little Havens is just amazing, it’s so hard to put into words, there’s just something about it. It has given us the break we needed but it’s so much more than that, it enables us to carry on. It helps us function as a normal family and that’s how I want us to stay.”
Blues boss Phil Brown said: "I recently visited Little Havens Hospice and was in awe of the hospice and the work they do there. As a club we are thrilled to be able to help Barclays and other local businesses raise money for this wonderful local charity and would love to see our fans get behind the event.”
