Theo Robinson previews Port Vale..
This time last season Theo Robinson was lining up for Southend’s opponents tomorrow, Port Vale.
The striker made a switch to the Valiants in the 2016 January transfer window from Motherwell, scoring twice in 14 appearances.
Despite being released, Robinson doesn’t believe he has a point to prove, but is hoping to get one over his former side to help Blues in their push for promotion.
“It’s changed a lot from when I was there,” he said. “I think there’s been about 15-20 players that have gone in there.
“They released me so it’s one of them things. I would love to get one back on them and obviously it’s a big game for us so I’m looking forward to it.
“Not for how things turned but because whenever you play your old team you always want to get the points.
“It’s a crucial game for us to get back into the play offs.”
Robinson was a second half substitute last weekend, setting up Nile Ranger for what turned out to be a consolation goal, and hopes his impact off the bench will lead to a starting spot soon.
“I’ll just keep doing what I have to do and trying to make an impact in any situation that I get.
Hopefully I’ll get a start soon, but it’s up to the manager what he wants to do.
“The team was doing really well when I arrived and we’ve still been doing well despite the result on Saturday.
“I have to wait for the opportunity to come along and work hard in training and when I come off the bench do well.”
