PREVIEW | Points are all that matter says White

14 March 2017

Defender previews the trip to Coventry...

John White says it will be a case of points over performance against Coventry tonight.

The defender was speaking ahead of the game at the Ricoh Arena where Blues will be looking to get their first win since the 4-1 triumph away to Peterborough.

And White said a better start to the game will be all important in the quest for three points.

“It’s about putting on a good performance but at the end of the day it’s about getting three points no matter what it takes,” he said. “That’s the be all and end all.

“It would be nice to have a good performance but if we scrape a 1-0 win and play ugly it doesn’t really matter at this stage of the season.

“It’s crucial that we get a win on the board.

“If we don’t then it makes it even harder to get to where we want to be.

“The last few have been a bit slower and on Saturday it cost us big time.

“They started quite quickly and being 2-0 down so early it gives you a mountain to climb.

“When teams are 2-0 up then they can afford to sit in a little bit and soak up the pressure and hit us on the counter.

“We’ve got to start quicker and better not only to stop teams being able to do that but for ourselves to try and get something early in the game.”
