Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their DeVines Player of the Month for February.

The month got off to a flyer as Blues knocked top of the table Scunthorpe off their perch with a 3-1 win, before falling to a 1-0 defeat at Millwall.

Blues bounced back three days later with a 2-0 win at Oxford, Theo Robinson getting on the scoresheet for the first time since signing after Marc-Antoine Fortune’s opener.

Back at Roots Hall, Northampton held Blues to a 2-2 draw before an emphatic 4-1 on the road at Peterborough. The month ended with Blues going down 2-1 at Gillingham.

You can choose from the following four candidates as your standout player…

• Marc-Antoine Fortune
• Ryan Leonard
• Adam Thompson
• Ben Coker

Fortune started every game in February and earned plaudits with his outstanding hold up play. Not only that, he found the back of the net on three occasions. The first against Scunthorpe, again opening the scoring against Oxford and the second against Peterborough.

Ryan Leonard continues to be one of the first names on the team sheet, and in the absence of Anton Ferdinand has taken the captain's armband, which shows his importance to Phil Brown. Leonard fired the third goal for Blues against Scunthorpe and has been the engine-room of the midfield.

Just like Leonard, in the defence Adam Thompson has been colossal for Blues. Thompson has already made 35 appearances for Blues this season and has put in more consistent performances throughout February.

Ben Coker returned from a long injury lay-off in a starting berth against Fleetwood at the end of January and has gone on to start every game in February. Coker was his usual attacking self on the left-hand side getting an assist against Northampton.

To cast your vote head to Southend United’s official Twitter account @SUFCRootsHall and select your choice on our poll. Voting will close at midday on Monday 6 March.
