Blues squad given BBQ masterclass

30 March 2017

The players kicked off the BBQ season with a masterclass from Alton Garden Centre Weber World

On Monday, the first team players were treated to something a little different after training as they got involved with some cooking to kick off the BBQ season.

Alton Garden Centre Weber World, winner of the Gold Award for the UK’s Number 1 BBQ Store and one of the UK’s largest Weber World stockists, visited Boots & Laces Training Ground to put the players' culinary skills to the test.

Under the guidance of BBQ specialist Richard Holden, the teams of Anton Ferdinand and Anthony Wordsworth, Simon Cox and Ben Coker, Stephen McLaughlin and Jason Demetriou, Nile Ranger and Nico Cotton and Adam Thompson, Ted Smith and Jack Bridge, were put to the test making a chocolate brownie, pizza, burgers and then steak.

They were helped with some advice from Manager Phil Brown who overlooked the class and of course the new range of Weber World BBQ’s which were a great help to the below average standard of cooking, to put it kindly.

For some of the team who had never cooked before, it was a great help and certainly gave them all a few tips with the BBQ season just around the corner.

The cook-off honours went to the team of Stephen McLaughlin and Jason Demetriou who were rewarded with their very own Weber World BBQ and bragging rights for best cooks in the squad.
