Southend United to support Grenfell Tower fire victims

16 June 2017

Southend United to donate money to west London fire victims

Following the horrendous Grenfell Tower tragedy in London earlier this week, Southend United would like to pledge their support to the families of the disaster.

Several people died after a huge fire destroyed the tower block in west London, and those who have survived have lost their homes and possessions.

As such, Blues have joined forces with the British Red Cross to raise essential funds needed to help families begin to rebuild their lives.

As of 16 June 2017, Southend United will donate £10 for every adult Season Card sold towards the appeal. We will also donate £1 for every match ticket sold for every home league game that takes place up to and including 30 September 2017.

Along with that, Southend United will be donating 16/17 shirts for the children of the families affected by this horrific event.

James Sharples from the Commercial department said: “We wanted to help the victims and survivors of this tragic event however we could and we hope that the money we will raise through the great following we have at Southend United will make a difference. We feel the funding will contribute towards creating a future for the families now left with nothing.”
