Southend United will kick-off the 2017/18 season at home to Blackburn Rovers.
Blues then face two more newcomers to Sky Bet League One, following up the opening day in the league with a trip to Rotherham United on 12th August, Plymouth Argyle back at Roots Hall on 19th August, ending the first month of the season away to local rivals Gillingham on 26th August.
Southend will be at home on Boxing Day for the second successive season when Karl Robinson’s Charlton Athletic visit Roots Hall before a home game against Shrewsbury Town four days later. Blues then travel to AFC Wimbledon two days later on New Year’s Day in a hectic Christmas schedule.
The Easter period sees Phil Brown take his side to Plymouth Argyle before a home game against Gillingham on Easter Monday.
The season concludes on Saturday 5th May at home to Bristol Rovers which is a 5.30pm kick-off.
