Seetec students begin three weeks of work at Roots Hall

Southend United has kicked off a second cohort of trainees on the Facilities Management Academy with Essex-based employment and skills specialist Seetec.

Seetec are Southend United’s Official Training Wear Sponsor and after the first cohort completed a course towards the end of the season, the second began this week.

The programme will see talented 16-18 year olds complete three weeks of on-site work as part of their eight-week traineeship.

The recent intake have completed a lot of the practical side and are into week five of the course.

Now will be about learning how to manage and maintain Roots Hall Stadium and its corporate hospitality buildings at a critical time of the year.

The Stadium is undergoing work to get it ready for the start of the 2017/18 season and the Seetec students this week began undertaking various painting work around the ground.

The priority, leader Lindsay Rungasamy says, has been the yellow hazard painting on the floor before they move onto the cosmetic side.
