Phillips becomes sixth youngster to sign this summer.
Southend United are pleased to announce 19-year-old Harry Phillips has signed his first professional contract at the club.
The youngster joins teammates Josh Bexon, Joe Bedford, Sonny Coutts, Norman Wabo and Renei Batlokwa to have been rewarded with a contract at Roots Hall this summer.
Phillips, an attacking midfielder and who has been part of the Blues set up since the age of nine, was delighted to sign his first deal.
“It’s been a long journey from the age of nine to here so I’m just glad that I’ve got it all done," he said.
“There’s been a lot of coaches I’ve worked with in my time here but I’m really thankful to the likes of Dave Huzzey, Kev Maher and Ricky Duncan who have helped me over the last couple of years.
“It’s great to have signed a pro deal but the next target is to make my debut this season.
"I’ve got to work hard to get that opportunity and hopefully I can take it when it comes.”
