TEAM NEWS | Anton Ferdinand injury update

23 February 2017

Defender could be back for Gills...

Phil Brown is hopeful that Anton Ferdinand will be available for Blues against Gillingham this weekend.

The defender missed Tuesday night's win at Peterborough with a calf problem picked up in the 2-2 draw with Northampton Town.

But Brown had good news regarding the the 32-year-old at Thursday's press conference.

"I’m very confident," he said. "Fingers crossed Anton comes through a days treatment today and a days training tomorrow and then he’s available for selection.

"I can only go on what the player tells me and he feels what he feels.

"It was a grade two tear which is normally two weeks and beyond but he knows his body better than anyone.

"I’ll make sure that he trains rigorously enough that we don’t risk him.

"Will Atkinson is back from suspension, so there’s lots of massive positives coming out of our camp at the moment."
