Club recognised for its support to campaign...
On Saturday 4th February 2017 Southend United FC became the latest recipients of the prestigious Show Racism the Red Card Hall of Fame Award.
The Shrimpers were chosen because of their year on year support to our campaign in organising regular SRtRC Club Events at Roots Hall, and supporting the Southern Education Team in local schools.
Ex Blues Legend Chris Powell is also a holder of a Hall of Fame Award. Chris played 248 games for Southend Utd and is still a firm favourite with the fans.
Southend Manager Phil Brown received the Award on behalf of the Club from Lionel Morgan, ex Wimbledon FC and England U20 player. Lionel is one of the Southern region sessional Educators and has worked in local
Southend schools delivering anti racism workshops.
Southern Regional Manager Steve Goodsell commented “We are delighted to induct Southend Utd into the SRtRC Hall of Fame. The Club Events they host each season are always first class and we thank everyone at Roots Hall, particularly the Community and Educational Trust, for their support to SRtRC in tackling discrimination and intolerance”
