Adam Thompson following the 1-0 loss to the Lions...
Adam Thompson says Blues can take plenty of positives from the 1-0 defeat to Millwall and look to bounce back immediately with the visit to Oxford on Tuesday night.
Fred Onyedinma’s second half header condemned Blues to their second defeat of 2017 in a fiery encounter at The Den.
But Thompson wasn’t at all despondent at the full time whistle.
“I thought we started the game off poorly but dug in and had that clean sheet mentality,” he said.
“Obviously the sending off came and I thought we actually got better when we had ten men.
“I thought we were a bit more relaxed and in the second half we were on top but as I say it’s very disappointing the way we lost the game and at the end we felt we should have had a couple of decisions that would have changed the game completely.
“They had a game plan that we expected. They got it forward early and I felt as the game went on we dealt with that a bit better.
“It’s always going to be tough with ten men but I thought the mentality of the squad showed and we deserved at least a point for that and the determination we put in.
Thompson was also confident they could demonstrate their battling credentials with the midweek trip to the Kassam Stadium.
“We’ve shown we can bounce back,” he added.
“It’s two losses in 18 and that shows a lot.
“We’re going to Oxford who aren’t far behind us so it’s another big game in the run of games we’ve had.
“We’re still on a good run. We need to take the positives from today because we didn’t roll over and die when we went down to ten men.
“We battled right to the end and maybe if the decisions were different we might have taken something from the game.”
