The boss on what's needed against Scunthorpe this weekend...
Phil Brown says Saturday's game against Scunthorpe is a marker for their progress this season, similar to Rochdale three weeks ago - a test Blues passed.
The Blues boss told Southendunited.co.uk that the result at Glanford Park was a "humiliation".
But Brown said the team he puts out this weekend will be much better prepared for the challenge against the league leaders.
"We did that against Rochdale and that was a fair challenge for us and for them," he said.
"Fortunately for us it went our way but it showed you how far we've come.
"I would like to do the same; I would like to have that measurement.
"It was an absolute humiliation at Glanford Park and we never want to go through that again.
"It's not a new group of lads I've got, it's a fit group of lads I've got compared to what we had at Glanford Park.
"We picked a system that worked in previous games but didn't work that day. They were the dark days of this season.
"It's a big game and it's a marker for us.
"We've got to be about our mettle and fully prepared, as we were last week."
