Michael Timlin's reaction to 3-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers

11 December 2017

Michael Timlin gave his reaction to the 3-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers, on putting things right and on this Saturday’s game against Bradford…

On the defeat...

We all want to start off by saying that we are extremely sorry for the weekend’s performance, especially to the fans that travelled all the way and spent a lot of money during this busy Christmas period. They were so positive throughout the game and they came in good numbers. The result is very disappointing, and it is more frustrating because of our performance.

Last weekend's win against Oldham we played very well, then we got caught out against Peterborough on Wednesday, which left Saturday, a game that we could use to make things right, but we didn’t react to their style of play and once they had scored we knew it was going to make it harder because they got the crowd behind them.

Words have been said and passed around and rightly so and because of the result we will take whatever comes our way.

On putting things right...

We have to make sure we turn up against Bradford on Saturday, and I think it’s probably a benefit for us that we are playing a team that are flying at the moment, a team that are tipped for promotion. We really need to go into Saturday and show them that we are another one of those team's that are amongst the pack.

On the upcoming game against Bradford...

All last week the gaffer drilled into the team that we need to change our away form and we all know it’s been very poor this season. But our home form has been very good this year and it’s what is keeping us up there amongst it all. On our day, we are a very good team and we need to stick together.

There’s even more pressure on Saturday’s home game because we have to turn up and show Bradford a different side than what we showed against Bristol, as well as proving the fans that we committed to what we are doing as a team. We have to make sure we turn up and at the end of the day, it all comes down to the old saying ‘roll up your sleeves and run hard” and I have no doubt the players will do that, we just have to do it on a consistent basis.
