History Books: Blues v Latics

Southend v Oldham 2nd December 2017

1 December 2017

We take a long look at the history books to see how Blues fare against the Latics...

The two sides have met a total of 37 times, with Blues winning 15 and drawing 10 of those meetings.

Out of the 15 times we have beaten Oldham, seven have been at home and eight have been away.

The first ever meeting between the two sides was on 15th December 1951 in the FA Cup, the game ended 5-0 to Southend after a second half onslaught that brought 3 goals in the dying stages of the game.

Southend have scored 50 goals against Oldham, with the Latics only putting 34 past Blues.

The last time Blues lost to Oldham was on 19th April 2016, the result ended 1-0 to the Latics, the reverse fixture however ended 5-2 to Southend. This result happened to be the first time Blues had beaten Oldham since 15th September 2007.

The only cup competition that the two sides have faced each other in is the FA Cup. We have played Oldham three times in the competition winning one, drawing one and losing one.
