Roots To The 92 Helping Parkinson's Research

20 December 2017

Author of ‘Roots To The 92’ and long-standing Southend fan Andrew Leeder would like to pass on his thanks to all who purchased a copy of his book at the last home match against Bradford...

Andrew, pictured above with fellow Shrimper Dave Bishop, was selling copies at our Club Shop before and after the game, and after selling out his supply on the day we are pleased to say that Andrew will be there once again for our next home match on Boxing Day when Blues take on Charlton.

All royalties for this months sales are being donated to Parkinson’s Research, a cause close to Andrew’s heart as his father, who first took him to Roots Hall in 1971, passed away last year after suffering from Parkinson’s for a long period.

Roots To The 92 charts Andrew’s quest to visit all current 92 league grounds, a feat he achieved in April last year when we played at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road. It is a dry-humoured tale of what it was like to be there (not a series of match reports), and since publication sales have reached 850.

The book has been receiving some great reviews, “unputdownable” and “a fantastic read mixing tales from yesteryear to the present day” being just two of the comments you will find on Amazon where the book can be purchased (simply type ‘Roots To The 92’ in to the Amazon search box).

“It was great to meet so many people at the last home game” says Andrew “…. and I’m looking forward to repeating the experience on Boxing Day.”

If you received any money for Christmas and fancy treating yourself to a great football read, then why not pop along to the Club Shop before or after the game against Charlton to get yourself a copy (cost £9.00), and help a great cause at the same time.
