Dean Whitestone to take charge against Plymouth...
Saturday’s home game against Plymouth Argyle will be refereed by Dean Whitestone.
Last season Whitestone brandished 119 yellow cards and three red cards.
Saturday will be Whitestone’s 16th Southend game that he will officiate. He started his refereeing career in the Football Conference in 2003 and first took charge of Stevenage’s 0-0 draw against Chester.
Since then he has gone on to referee in League One and his most recent match was in Walsall’s League One 2-1 win against Oldham last weekend in which five yellow cards were shown.
His last game refereeing Southend was in the 2-1 defeat to Gillingham at Priestfield in February when Ryan Inniss was shown a red card.
Throughout his career he has shown 1,210 yellow cards and 74 red cards during his fourteen-year refereeing career.
