A brief look back at three games that occurred on this day in years gone by...
Huddersfield 1-2 Southend
The first game of the 1990/91 season ended in a win for Blues.
Forward Brett Angell opened the scoring in the first half after some brilliant counter attacking football.
The home side equalised early in the second half, putting pressure on David Webb’s team.
In the final minutes, Steve Tilson bagged the second for Blues, earning them the win.
Southend 4-1 Halifax
Blues’ second home game of the season ended in a comfortable 4-1 win at home.
Tony Richards opened the scoring just before half time before Leon Johnson scored the second ten minutes into the second half.
Halifax scored their only goal from the spot in the 66th minute.
But it mattered for little as Danny Webb and once again Tony Richards were on target to secure a comfortable 4-1 win at home.
Northampton 3-3 Southend
Paul Sturrock’s side fought back to earn a draw despite taking the lead twice.
Britt Assombalonga, Kane Ferdinand and Ryan Cresswell were all on the scoresheet for Blues.
All six goals came in the second half with Blues taking the lead two times before Northampton scored their third in the 86th minute which looked to see off Sturrock’s side.
But Cresswell fired in a volley from close range to level the scoring.
