Blues youngsters Dan Walker and Josh Bexon are plying their trade in Austria with FC Kitzbuhel to gain valuable first team experience.
First Team Assistant Manager Sean Caldwell provides an update on their last two fixtures.
Saturday 19th August: FC Kitz 0-0 SC Schwaz
We put in a strong performance and should’ve won. Josh played 90 minutes and had little to do, but he did do well. Keeping his second clean sheet in a row is always a positive, his distribution was strong but other than that had little to do in the game.
Dan had a back injury and wasn’t involved in this game.
Saturday 26th August: FC Pinzgau Saalfelden 3-3 FC Kitz
Despite playing incredibly poorly, we found ourselves 2-0 up at half time. Josh had very little to do, again, in the first half. Our poor performance continued into the second half, and we conceded two in five minutes early in the second half.
Josh couldn’t do anything with either goal… two minutes later he did, however, get an assist playing a long ball forward which allowed our striker to finish with one touch over the opposition keeper. Dan came on with 25 minutes to go, but failed to impact on the game due to our ongoing poor performance as a team (failing to keep possession).
Then in the 82nd min, Josh gathered the ball and had been blocked off by the opposition striker (standing two yards in front of him) from kicking the ball out… he tried to throw the ball and again was blocked. He finally he kicked the ball high into the air and the ref has blown up. Yellow card for Josh and in direct free kick in our box, they scored from the free kick. Incredibly disappointing for us and Josh to be penalised like that for the third goal, but it certainly wasn’t the only reason we didn’t win the game.
