John White's reaction on the defeat to Rotherham

14 August 2017

John White on the defeat, the 'embarrassing performance, the next game and the highs and lows of football...

On the defeat…

I think it was clear for everyone to see it was nowhere near good enough, all over the pitch we were off it, we gave them too much time and space, and they capitalised early on.

On the ‘embarrassing’ performance…

Without a doubt, it’s one of those times where it is what it is, you’ve got to try and cling onto any hope of getting something out of the game, but it was over early. The second half you have to come out and play for some kind of pride and show a little bit of fight and spirit. You can see it wasn’t good enough and we paid for it massively.

On the next game…

We can’t sit on this game and worry about it, we have a chance to put things right and will be working extremely hard in training this week, to affect what we do in the next game and look to put it right and show some pride next week. We’d like to apologise to the travelling fans as it wasn’t good enough and they are spending their hard-earned money to come all this way and to support us and it wasn’t good enough.

On the highs and lows of football after the win against Blackburn and then defeat to Rotherham…

It sums football up. It’s either really high or really low, it isn’t too much in the middle. Saturday is a chance for us to go again and make it right.
