SOUTHEND United were forced to settle for a share of the spoils against Plymouth Argyle this afternoon after failing to make their first half dominance count.

The Shrimpers – who we’re seen off 5-0 at Rotherham United last weekend – dominated early on and took the lead just six minutes when Sonny Bradley fired the ball past his own goalkeeper.

However, the Pilgrims improved after the break and Ryan Edwards’ header from Graham Carey’s corner ensured the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Southend had to be content with a battling point, last Saturday, after Sonny Bradley’s first-half ow goal was cancelled out but fellow centre-back, Ryan Edwards, after the break.

Keen to bounce back from their Rotherham drubbing – seven days beforehand – the Shrimpers got their noses in front when Bradley put through his own goal after only six minutes.

ARGYLE completed a full set of Sky Bet League One results, adding a draw at Roots Hall to their 2017-18 three-game haul thanks to a fine second-half display after they had again found themselves chasing an away match.

For the second successive game on the road, the Pilgrims went behind to an early goal scored by one of their own, Sonny Bradley knocking the ball past Luke McCormick.

The Herald

Plymouth Argyle added another point to their League One tally on Saturday when they came away from Southend United’s Roots Hall with a 1-1 draw.

The Shrimpers finished seventh in the third tier last season and are tipped among the sides to have a stab at the top-six again this campaign, making the Pilgrims’ result all the more credible.
