Reaction from Blues centre-back Adam Thompson following the 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury...
Adam Thompson is remaining positive going into the last week of the season that Blues’ play-off ambitions are still alive.
Despite suffering a blow at Shrewsbury in a 1-0 defeat, Blues are just one point away from Millwall who travel to Bristol Rovers on the final day of the season.
And Thompson is keen to stay upbeat of Blues’ chances.
“Everyone is gutted, frustrated and disappointed in ourselves,” he said following the defeat at Greenhous Meadow. “We never really got going.
“We could have dug out a 0-0 which would have taken us into the play-offs.
“But it depends at how you look at it because with Millwall losing 3-0, you could look at it negatively and say we could have been in the play-off places or look at it positively and say, by the way we’re at home on the last day of the season, Millwall are away so we can still make it.
“With one game left we have to be positive. The Millwall result is massive for us and we’re still in with a shot.
“In front of a massive crowd next week, hopefully we will do the business and Bristol Rovers do us a favour.”
Junior Brown’s second-half header condemned Blues to successive losses on Saturday.
And Thompson believes Blues can get out of the sticky patch by getting the three points on Sunday.
“Unfortunately, we’re going through one of those patches in the season where you go through a blip, just like Millwall are.
“We’ve been here before and we’ve dug ourselves out of it so we’ve got to dig ourselves out of it again.
“We have some big characters in the team and we have to do the business next week.”
