Christian Walton looks ahead to Shrewsbury...
On-loan goalkeeper Christian Walton says Blues need to approach the game against Shrewsbury in a similar fashion to how they did against Chesterfield.
Chesterfield were battling to stay in the league before having their fate sealed on Monday, nevertheless Blues ran out 4-0 winners over a week ago at The Proact Stadium.
And Walton says that is the same mentality needed to overcome Shrewsbury, who themselves are three points above the dropzone.
“They’re fighting for their lives so they’re going to be up for the game and we need to match them with our work rate and our quality on the pitch,” said Walton.
“I don’t think we can look at stats, we’ve just got to go there and do our thing and put in a performance like we did at Chesterfield who were also fighting for their lives.
“We managed to see them off with four goals so hopefully we can do the same on Saturday.”
Shrewsbury have only lost twice in nine home games as Blues attempt to take the play-off chase to the last day of the season.
Walton believes maximum points is all they are concentrating on from the last two games.
“We’ve got two big games and we’re aiming for six points out of the two,” he added.
“We’ve got to keep consistent and keep doing the right things.
“We’re just hoping that if we do our thing, that it falls into place.
“Six points is our aim for the next two games.
“I don’t think we should look at anyone else’s results until we’ve done our bit.”
