PREVIEW | Demetriou looks ahead to Easter weekend

13 April 2017

Demetriou says he's excited about the end of the season rather than fearing it...

Approaching the so called 'squeaky bum time' as it was famously coined, Jason Demetriou believes there is more excitement than nerves in the squad.

Four games are left for Blues to achieve a top-six finish in Sky Bet League One, and Demetriou is hoping for a similar end to the campaign like he had with his former club Walsall last season.

"The boys are quite excited actually," he said. "It’s so nice to be able to get to the end of the season and still be amongst it.

"I think we deserve to be there.

"Of course it can be that sort of time, but I think it’s more an enjoyable time."

Blues will need to improve on their last two games which have ended in defeat if they are to get into the end of season showdown.

The right-back said he has every confidence, with the support from the fans, of making it.

"The fans on Saturday were amazing, the atmosphere was brilliant and it was like we were at home," he said.

"I’m gutted we didn’t get the points we deserved and wanted but we’re looking forward to the next four games.

"I don’t think we played too badly on Saturday but we didn’t take our chances.

"At the end of the season them crucial misses mean more and the goals we concede as well.

"We’re buzzing for Friday. We know we need a good weekend because we need six points to help get us into the play-offs."
