MATCH PREVIEW | Coker hoping Millwall can be the start of a positive run for Blues

22 September 2016

Southend United full-back previews the trip to Sixfields Stadium to face Northampton Town...

Ben Coker is hoping the 3-1 win against Millwall last time out can be the start of a positive run of results for the Blues, continuing this weekend at newly-promoted Northampton Town.

A battling display against the Lions saw the Blues get back to winning ways and register their first win at home this season last weekend at Roots Hall.

Now back on the road this Saturday with games coming thick and fast, Coker says that if the team continue in the same vein of form they showed against Millwall, they will soon start shooting up the league.

“The result against Millwall was massive, you could see by it everyone coming in on Monday.

“It was a bit of a relief, but we knew we had it in us and now we’ve got to push on and get a good run of wins.

“You could see by the way we pressed on Saturday, that formation suits us but we’ll see what happens on Saturday.

“Training has been really good the last couple of weeks with a real high tempo so I think we just need to keep that going.

“Ever since I have been here we haven’t been strong starters, but I think last year’s league table tells you that teams down at the bottom can put a run of games together and get right up there, so that’s what we’ve got to do.”

“Northampton will be another tough game, we know what they’re about, we just have to do our homework and go right at them.”
