MATCH PREVIEW | Barrett looking to end Glanford hoodoo

8 September 2016

Blues' Club Captain expecting tough test against the Iron

Club Captain, Adam Barrett is expecting a tough test against Scunthorpe United as the Blues head to Glanford Park this Saturday (3pm kick off).

The Iron, under the management of Graham Alexander, have firmly hit the ground running this season, sitting fifth in the standings after winning three of their opening five games.

Blues haven’t had the best of luck at the home of Scunthorpe, failing to win at Glanford Park since September 1983.

Though Barrett believes a repeat performance of their defensive heroics at Bolton Wanderers, mixed with a clinical cutting edge in attack, should see Southend leave Lincolnshire with a positive result.

“It’s a tough place to go, it always is.

“It proves it looking where they (Scunthorpe United) are in the league, they’ve started very well.

“We’re expecting a very difficult game up there, but we’ve got to take the same character and the same fighting spirit that we had at Bolton and take that forward now.

“And hopefully we can start creating a few more chances and be a little bit more of a threat going forward so that we can come away with a good positive result.”
