Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their DeVines Accountants Player of the Month for August.Looking over a month where Southend stunned Bramall Lane by taking a 3-0 victory away with them from South Yorkshire, rescued a last-ditch point at home to Bristol Rovers and got off to a winning start in the Checkatrade Trophy, fans are asked to choose from the following stand-out performers.
- Stephen McLaughlin
- Ryan Leonard
- Luke O’Neill
- Simon Cox
Stephen McLaughlin has got his season off to a blistering start scoring three goals in August; twice against neighbours Gillingham and once against Sheffield United.
Named in the EFL team of the week for the victory over the Blades, Ryan Leonard has had a solid August playing every minute for Blues.
Luke O’Neill has discovered a new position on the right wing and has immediately felt at home putting in a string of fine performances. His teasing cross helped take the lead at Sheffield United as it deflected in off Jack O’Connell.
A high-profile addition over the summer, Simon Cox got himself off and running with a goal and a Man of the Match performance at Sheffield United. He followed up that strike with a successfully converted penalty against Bristol Rovers just three days later.
To cast your vote head to Southend United’s official Twitter Account @SUFCRootsHall and select your choice on our poll. Voting will close at midday on Friday 9 September.
