Adam Barrett praises fans' continued backing...

Club Captain Adam Barrett says the team must roll up their sleeves and battle to ensure they get back to winning ways.

A 4-0 drubbing at Scunthorpe United highlighted a lack of confidence in the ranks Barrett said speaking after the match.

The skipper, who praised the fans’ continued support, urged that everyone must continue to stick together, get back to basics and fight to get back to winning ways this weekend against Millwall.

“It’s very, very difficult.

“The first half hour up until they scored we were looking alright, but at the moment there looks to be a huge lack of confidence.

“We’ve had a chat in there (the dressing room), we’ve been honest about it and we’ve now got to start rolling up our sleeves, we’ve got to scrap now.

“I know it’s early but we want to get ourselves out of this situation and we’ve got to work harder as a team.

“We need some belief in there, and the only way you do that is by getting back to basics and doing the ugly part of the game which we’re not doing enough of at the moment.

“There’s a long way to go with a lot of football to be played, but we’re in a league position we don’t want to be in and we’ve got to fight tooth and nail to make sure we get out of it.

“We’ve got to start fighting for the football club, take pride in wearing the shirt, take pride in playing for the club and we’ve got to go and graft for one another.

“The only way the fans can be reassured is by results, it’s as simple as that. But they’ve stayed behind us, they’ve been magnificent throughout all of my time here.

“They just want to see the team go out there and give everything they’ve got and we’ve got to make sure we do that for them.”
