Blues striker on Checkatrade Trophy win...Marc-Antoine Fortuné was thrilled to open his Blues account in the 1-0 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Leyton Orient.
With the game firmly tied at 0-0 going into the closing stages, Fortuné produced the game's only goal with a wonderfully taken effort ten minutes from time to send Blues top of Southern Group G and book their place in the next round of the competition with one group game to spare.
Simon Cox played it forward to his strike partner who had time to turn and curl his shot in off the post in his first start since joining the club last week.
And Fortuné is now hoping he and the team can kick on now going into the Sky Bet League One clash at Rochdale this Saturday.
“I’m delighted to score.” He said.
“It’s always good to score on your first start so I was really pleased and then we won so it was good night for everyone.
“Being a cup game it is always hard as teams playing a team in a higher division always give 100%, but we battled until the end and made sure we scored first so that was good.
Everything has gone well so far, the team have welcomed me well and I’m starting to get some connection with the players on the pitch and that is coming quick.
“Every game is important and we want to win every game, so we have to take this game as a reference and go again Saturday and show that we are a good team.”
