MATCH PREVIEW | Ferdinand looking forward to Dale test

6 October 2016

Defender previews trip to the Crown Oil Arena...

Anton Ferdinand is expecting a tough test this weekend as the Blues head to the Crown Oil Arena to take on Rochdale.

Southend United face a Dale side who have won their last five games, four of which have come in the league.

Although facing the division’s in-form team, Ferdinand was quick to point out that Blues head into the fixture on a decent run of their own having gone undefeated at home for five matches in all competitions.

With that in mind, the defender is excited for the challenge ahead as Blues look to get back to winning ways on the road.

“It’s going to be a big test for us away from home.” He said.

“Playing away from home in this league is always hard, but we’re going into this game on the back of a bit of form.

“So it will be a test, but one we’re one we’re thoroughly looking forward to.”

After a difficult start to the season, the team have found their rhythm taking seven points from a possible 12 in their last four games in Sky Bet League One.

Ferdinand believes that after a summer of transition with many new faces coming through the door, himself being one, things are now starting to click and the team are now ready to kick on.

“The atmosphere is good around the training ground; everyone is working hard on the training pitch but also enjoying themselves as well.

“This is a new team coming together, and I think we’re starting to get on the same page now.

“You’ve seen it in glimpses in games over the last couple of weeks, and once we start to do that on regular basis there is a run in this team.”
