Cast your vote...Southend United are asking supporters to vote for their DeVines Accountants Player of the Month for September.
Looking over a month where Southend secured a battling point at high-flying Bolton Wanderers, a 3-1 taming of Lions Millwall at Roots Hall, and a 2-1 home victory under the lights v Oxford United, fans are asked to choose from the following stand-out performers.
- Stephen McLaughlin
- Ryan Leonard
- David Mooney
- Jermaine McGlashan
Stephen McLaughlin, the winner of the DeVines Player of the Month for August, continued his fine start to the season with another string of fine performances in September. After scoring three goals in August, the winger added a further strike to his tally against Millwall; smashing the ball home from 18-yards out.
Ryan Leonard, who celebrated 200 appearances for Blues in September, has played every minute of the season so far, running the midfield. Leonard also opened his account for the campaign in September; a scorching effort at home to Oxford United.
After scoring his first goal of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Checkatrade Trophy in late August, David Mooney hit form in September, leading the line well for all of the month and got the opening goal against Millwall with a great turn and finish.
After having to patiently wait for his chance after joining Blues in the summer, McGlashan has constantly looked a threat for Southend in September, largely operating in a front three with McLaughlin and Mooney. The winger turned provider against Millwall, crossing for Mooney to score with a low teasing ball.
